Kasey Kahne will step back after 2018

Another historic driver from recent years in Nascar will therefore take a step back with the discipline at the end of the season. Kasey Kahne, a resident of Leavine Family Racing this year, with the No. 95 Chevrolet Camaro, will no longer compete full-time in the premier class in 2019.

Having passed through USAC then the traditional Truck and Xfinity Series levels, Kahne made his debut in the Cup Series in 2004 with a Dodge operated by Evernham Motorsports before turning to Richard Petty Motorsports then Red Bull Racing and between 2009 2011.

In 2012, and after more than a dozen victories to his credit, Kahne was recruited by Rick Hendrick to join the then almost invincible armada of Hendrick Motorsports. We think that this new step can finally allow the native of the state of Washington to play for the title.

If the first campaign saw Kahne finish 4th in the championship, the rest would only be disappointment with only four victories in five years. At the end of 2017, Hendrick Motorsports and Kasey Kahne parted ways, with the latter heading to Leavine Family Racing this year.

“I have been thinking about this decision for several months, if not more, confesses Kahne in a message on social networks. It's time for me to retire from full-time Nascar. I appreciated everything that Leavine Family Racing did for me this season, and which gave me the opportunity to race in 2019.

However, racing in the Cup Series for several more years full-time is something I couldn't commit to. I'm not sure what the future holds for me, but I know I'm at peace with this decision. »
