Kyle Busch, big winner at Dover

The Autism Speaks 400 was won this weekend by Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch on an oval whose particularity is to be entirely made of concrete. Fighting with Jimmie Johnson for victory throughout the race, the duel ended when the reigning world champion received a penalty for excessive speed in the pits.

While the duel was established between these two drivers for victory, Jeff Burton (Richard Childress Racing) and Matt Kenseth (Roush Fenway Racing) unable to keep up with the set pace, Jimmie Johnson destroyed his efforts by coming out of the pits too quickly during the last stop. Kyle Busch just had to maintain his lead to protect his position and hope that no yellow flag disrupted his race. He thus won on the Dover track after leading 131 of the 400 laps covered, followed several seconds apart by Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) who again obtained a good result after his victory. at Darlington last week finishing fourth in the race. Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing), leader of the standings, crosses the line in 7th position.

This smooth race, with only five yellow flags, was also difficult for Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing). After a difficult week where his main sponsor officially announced that he was withdrawing after following him for around ten years, the driver was keen to obtain a good result in Dover. But a problem with his gear lever caused him to lose considerable time in the pits, thus ruining his race. However, he had a car capable of giving him a Top 5, given the ease with which he overtook his competitors, even having the luxury of overtaking Johnson in the race while he was still two laps behind the leader.

At the end of this race, Kevin Harvick remains in the lead for the Chase, followed by Kyle Busch who gains a place in the process. Matt Kenseth gains two places while Johnson loses two. Martin Truex Junior joins the Top 12 while the unlucky Tony Stewart leaves the Chase to find himself in 14th place in the standings. He will nevertheless be able to make up for it at the All-Star Race which will take place next week on the Charlotte circuit in North Carolina.
