Kyle Busch holds off Harvick in Texas

Kyle Busch (Toyota) a signé sa première victoire de la saison 2018 en Nascar Cup Series after winning the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500, a 500-mile event contested on the 1,5-mile oval at Texas Motor Speedway.

The 2015 champion was among the fastest, leading for a third of the race but was put under pressure by Kevin Harvick (Ford) who seemed to have the fastest car but was unable to mount an attack. on the leader in the last laps.

The resident of the Stewart-Haas Racing experienced several problems during its stops, including a nut that got stuck in the jack and a tire that escaped the control of a mechanic. The 2014 champion even almost got penalized again for a slipping tire, but the stewards decided not to sanction the driver.

Jamie McMurray brought the first Chevrolet into the top three, preceding Erik Jones (Toyota) and the Team Penske Fords of Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano.

The 500 mile race did quite a bit of damage to the peloton. Martin Truex Jr (Toyota) and Kyle Larson (Chevrolet) retired with a puncture, while Jimmie Johnson (Chevrolet), Denny Hamlin (Toyota) and Brad Keselowski (Ford) were involved in a pile-up.

Nascar will travel to the short track in Bristol (Tennessee) next week.
