Nascar pushes back the introduction of the Next Gen car to 2022

It was expected for 2021, with several new features including modified bodies, a reduced rear spoiler, larger brakes, 18″ wheels with central lugs. But the Next Gen car of the Nascar will finally arrive only in 2022.

A decision taken by Nascar officials in the face of a situation completely disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, which has completely redistributed the cards for the year 2020 with postponements or cancellations in succession in the different calendars.

“The decision was made in collaboration with the manufacturers and team owners, John Probst, vice president of racing innovation. We will continue to develop the Next Gen car, and a revised testing schedule will be shared when more information becomes available. »

Testing had largely begun for this new generation with several drivers requisitioned for the occasion.
