Martin gets the best start

Mark Martin, winner of his fifth race this season, is doing well. The veteran is not only the driver with the greatest number of victories in 2009, but also takes the lead in the general classification. However, the season is still long for drivers who will not have to let up their efforts until the last race to win the Grail.

Mark Martin deserves this fifth victory of the season as the veteran of the field was able to take first position and subsequently keep it, thanks to a solid pace. After leading for more than a third of the race, Juan Pablo Montoya thought he could go for his first victory in the Sprint Cup Series thanks to the last restart of the race. Taking place three laps from the end of the race, due to a spin by AJ Allmendinger, this new start saw his duel with Mark Martin turn to the veteran's advantage. The Colombian tried to get inside Martin but the latter was able to take off coming out of the corner.

Mark Martin therefore won ahead of Denny Hamlin, who was able to catch Juan Pablo Montoya a few hectometers from the finish line. Defending champion Jimmie Johnson finished in fourth place, ahead of the Busch brothers, Kyle and Kurt. In the general classification of the Sprint Cup, Mark Martin therefore takes first place and the advantage over his opponents, nine races from the final verdict.
