Weaned from victories in Nascar Cup Series from Kentucky in July 2018, Martin Truex Jr (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota) ended a long drought yesterday on the short track in Richmond (Virginia).
And at the same time, achieved his very first success on this type of American track, which had never really succeeded until now. A victory signed after leading the greatest number of laps in the race (186), and after taking the decisive advantage shortly before the 300th lap of the event.
The 2017 champion is ahead of three Ford Mustangs, with Joey Logano (Team Penske), who nevertheless tried everything in the last laps against Truex Jr. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver offered perfect resistance to Logano, despite a delicate set of tires to exploit in the final rounds.
Clint Bowyer (Stewart)Haas Racing) and Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing), while Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) completes the top 5.
Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing) hoists the first Chevrolet into sixth position, just ahead of Brad Keselowski (Team Penske), long in contention for victory, after taking the lead around the 265th lap.
