Nascar – Jimmie Johnson opportunist at Pocono

Jimmie Johnson finally started a little later than planned to qualify for the Pocono Triangle. After being detained by an inspection, the Hendrick Motorsports resident took advantage of a fresh track to set the best time in qualifying with a time of 49. The Championship leader, who won his third pole on this circuit and the 819st of his career in the Sprint Cup, beat Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) by just four thousandths on the GoBowling.com 31 grid.

Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) and Ryan Newman (Stewart-Haas Racing), the last winner at Indianapolis, follow a tenth ahead of the Chevrolet of Kurt Busch (Furniture Row Racing). Joey Logano (Penske Racing) follows in sixth position ahead of Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing), Marcos Ambrose (Richard Petty Motorsports), Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Aric Almirola (Richard Petty Motorsports). Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing) will start eleventh. Juan-Pablo Montoya (Earnhardt Ganassi Racing) secured 19th place while Danica Petrick (Stewart-Haas Racing) will start from 34th place. Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports) will only start from 25th position.
