NASCAR – Drivers eligible for Sprint Unlimited

After the 24 Hours contested at the end of January as part of the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, the Florida track of Daytona will prepare to host the NASCAR in February for the opening of the 2016 season. Before the big 500 mile meeting scheduled for Sunday February 21, the Sprint Unlimited will be contested on February 13 over 75 laps (25 + 50 laps) with 25 drivers eligible for this 2016 edition.

Can participate in this non-championship race AJ Allmendinger (JTG Daugherty Racing), Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing), reigning champion Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing), Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports), Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano (Team Penske) for taking a pole in 2015.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Hendrick Motorsports) and Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing) can compete as former Sprint Unlimited winners while Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing), Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing), David Gilliland (aligned by Front Row in 2015), Danica Patrick (Stewart-Haas Racing), Martin Truex Jr. (Furniture Row Racing) are eligible for having signed a pole at the Daytona 500.

Clint Bowyer (HScott Motorsports), Jamie McMurray (Ganassi Racing), Paul Menard, Ryan Newman (Richard Childress Racing) receive a ticket for taking part in the 2015 Chase, while Aric Almirola (Richard Petty Motorsports) and Kyle Larson (Ganassi Racing ) are invited according to their points ranking in 2015.

Left to retirement at the end of last year, Jeff Gordon should logically not take part in the event, which would allow Casey Mears (Germain Racing) to join the eligible drivers.
