NASCAR – Marcos Ambrose bets everything on the Glen

Since his arrival in NASCAR in 2006, the former double Australian V8 Supercars champion quickly earned a reputation as a master of races contested on road circuits, having never won on an oval in Cup. The Watkins Glen event in the state of New York has quickly become his preserve with two victories over the last three years in the first division and three successes in total in the second Nationwide division. Although Ambrose has already won at the Glen, he has never crossed the finish line in Sonoma as a winner, with his best result being third place in 2009.

The Australian, who will compete in both races this weekend, is also aiming to return to Victory Lane, a qualification for the 2014 Chase. 17th in the ranking before this Sunday, Ambrose will want to achieve this success which has been so important since the establishment of the new regulations this season. “You go to certain tracks where you know you have a better chance, admits the driver of the Richard Petty Motorsports Ford. It's just one of those weekends where you just want to do the best you can. »

Last year, Marcos Ambrose led the first 51 laps of the event before losing everything during a restart at the end of the race.
