Nascar – Matt Kenseth wins, Brad Keselowski in the final

The last issue of this round from Phoenix to Arizona lay in the discovery of the identity of the last qualifier for the season finale in Miami (Florida).

Qui de Brad Keselowski (Team Penske – Ford), Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota), Ryan Blaney (Wood Brothers Racing – Ford), auteur de la pole, Chase Elliott et Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet) allait rejoindre Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing – Toyota), Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing – Ford) and Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing).

If Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) was the most efficient in the first segment, it was Denny Hamlin who seemed the most energetic yesterday on the Arizona oval. The driver of the No. 11 Toyota Camry reduced his gap on Brad Keselowski in the first part of the race, before picking up the pace by winning in the second segment.

At that moment, the only certainty was that Jimmie Johnson's hopes would end after contact with the wall.

The final part of the event saw Hamlin and Larson fighting for the leading roles, before contact between the two drivers, forcing Hamlin to touch the outside wall. A minor incident undoubtedly caused the subsequent accident for driver Joe Gibbs, who saw his final goal disappear.

Matt Kenseth took advantage of the opportunity to pocket the victory ahead of Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. Despite his 16th place, Brad Keselowski qualifies for the final, where no Chevrolet car will be able to compete for the title.
