Nascar – Ryan Blaney signs his first victory at Pocono

Ryan Blaney scored his first victory in Nascar Cup Series by winning the Axalta Pocono 400 (Pennsylvania) after holding off Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) during the last 8 laps.

The driver of the No. 21 Ford, which offers the first success to Wood Brothers Racing since Trevor Bayne's victory at the Daytona 500 (Florida) in 2001, took the lead of the race by overtaking Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) who made the mistake of not stopping during the last yellow flag caused by contact with the wall of Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) even though he had dominated most of the event. The 2014 champion was only able to save a 9th place after trying to vigorously resist the attacks of Ryan Blaney.

Erik Jones (Furniture Row Motorsports) completed the top three ahead of Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing) and Brad Keselowski (Team Penske). Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) placed the first Chevrolet in 7th place behind the Toyota by Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing).

Chase Elliott saved the Hendrick Motorsports weekend by taking 8th place while the other Chevrolets dropped out. Dale Earnhardt Jr suffered a broken transmission while Jimmie Johnson crashed following a brake problem.
