Nascar – Stewart finally finds victory again

Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing) scored its first victory of the season by winning on the Sonoma Raceway road circuit (California). It had even been three years (84 starts) since the three-time champion of the Nascar Sprint Cup was no longer imposed. This success, the eighth of his career on a road event, brings him to nine points from the top 30 in the Championship, synonymous with qualification for the Chase.

« Smoke » a profité d’une bonne stratégie de son chef d’équipe Mike Bugarewicz l’appelant aux stands au bon moment pour prendre la tête de la course. Le pilote de la Chevrolet n°14 a dû ensuite résister au retour de Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing). La Toyota n°11 a légèrement « bumpé » la voiture de tête, mais Stewart a repris l’avantage dans le dernier virage suite à une erreur du pilote Joe Gibbs.

Denny Hamlin was able to salvage a second by placing from Joey Logano (Team Penske), Carl Edwards (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing).
