Nascar – Tony Stewart involved in fatal accident

Tony Stewart was involved in an accident which claimed the life of Kevin Ward Jr, who died after being hit by the three-time champion NASCAR during a dirt track race held last night at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, near Watkins Glen where the Sprint Cup meets this weekend. Almost a year to the day after his accident where he broke his leg, Smoke goes through a new ordeal after fatally injuring a competitor.

The accident began with a collision between the two pilots. As spectator videos posted online show, Kevin Ward Jr got out of his damaged car, while the yellow flag was being waved, in order to show his displeasure to Tony Stewart. The latter hit the victim who was thrown several meters. Despite the immediate intervention of emergency services, the young 20-year-old American did not survive.

Kevin Ward started competing at just four years old, starting with karting but only started his dirt track career in 2010. After winning the title of Rookie of the year in the Empire Super Sprint, this year he was competing in his fifth season in the discipline.
