Nascar – Tony Stewart broke his leg

Bad news for Tony Stewart. The pilot of the Stewart-Haas Racing, entered full-time in the Sprint Cup Series, the highest level of the Nascar, broke his leg. The accident occurred this Monday, when he was participating in a dirt sprint car race in Iowa. While leading the Front Row Challenge, the three-time Sprint Cup champion was caught in a pileup when another competitor spun. Conscious after his accident, the pilot was operated on upon arrival at the hospital, where doctors noted a double tibia-fibula fracture in his left leg.

Tony Stewart, who currently occupies 11th place in the Drivers' standings and holds a Wild-Card for the Chase thanks to his victory obtained this season at Dover, will be absent from the next round of the championship, which takes place this weekend at the Watkins Glen circuit in New York State. His replacement should be announced soon.
