Nascar – Truex Jr first qualified Chaser

Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing) is the first driver to qualify for the next round of the Chase. The pilot of the Toyota #78 won in Chicagoland (Illinois) taking advantage of a yellow flag that occurred five laps from the finish following a puncture by Michael McDowell which prompted most of the drivers to make a final stop.

If the interruption was good for Martin Truex Jr, who scored his third victory of the season, it destroyed the hopes of Chase Elliott who dreamed of winning his first victory in Nascar Sprint Cup.

Jeff Gordon's replacement was on course to win following his teammate Jimmie Johnson's penalty for an infraction in the pits, but he was unable to catch the No. 78 Toyota and ultimately finished third. behind Joey Logano (Team Penske) while Ryan Blaney and Brad Keswelowski (Team Penske) rounded out the top five.

Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas) is already in difficulty, the 2014 champion having only taken 20th place after finding himself one lap behind the leader.
