Martin Truex Jr (Toyota) rejoint le cercle des champions de la Nascar Cup Series after winning the Ford Ecoboost 400 at Homestead-Miami (Florida). The Furniture Row Racing resident, discreet at the start of the event, gained momentum throughout the race until taking the lead during the last restart. The eight-time winner this season had to resist the return of Kyle Busch (Toyota) in the final laps.
The resident of Joe Gibbs Racing, champion in 2015, seemed well on his way to winning a second title by being in control in the second part of the event until Brad Keselowski (Ford) anticipated a stop, modifying the strategies of the title contenders. Kyle Busch chose to stay on the track by betting on a finish without a yellow flag, but his brother Kurt Busch (Ford) undermined the plans of the driver of the No. 18 Camry by making a mistake.
Martin Truex Jr won ahead of Kyle Busch. Kevin Harvick (Ford) finished fourth behind Kyle Larson (Chevrolet) who has long shown himself to be a contender for victory. Brad Keselowski (Ford) was the worst performer among the title contenders and ranked seventh behind Chase Elliott (Chevrolet) and Joey Logano (Ford).
For his last engagement with Stewart-Haas Racing, Danica Patrick (Ford) retired after making a mistake after hitting the wall. Dale Earnhardt Jr (Chevrolet) finished his career by taking 25th place in the race.
