Nicky Catsburg dominated the first qualifying session at the SlovakiaRing on Friday, taking his first pole position this year in WTCR.
The Dutchman from BRC Hyundai Lukoil Team achieved a best time of 2'09″498, 28 thousandths better than the Hyundai i30 – BRC Hyundai Squadra Corse of Norbert Michelisz.
Ma Qing Hua climbs to the second line with theAlfa Romeo – Mulsanne four tenths behind, and remains the last driver under 2'10" per lap in this session. Daniel Haglof (Cupra Leon – PWR Racing) and Tom Coronel (Cupra Leon – Comtoyou Racing) complete the top 5.
Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi RS 3 – Audi Sport Team Leopard Racing) ranks as the best Frenchman in 7th position at 0″876. Aurélien Panis (Cupra Leon – Comtoyou Racing) took 12th place, while Yvan Muller was the best of the Lynk&Co 03 clan in 18th position.
The three other cars lined up under the different Cyan Racing / Cyan Performance banners bring up the rear in the standings with Thed Björk, Yann Ehrlacher and Andy Priaulx.
