PB Compétition / Tech 1 confirms Fabien Barthez in Am Cup

It is not surprising to see Fabien Bartholomew engage in the category Am Cup on one of the Lexus RC F GT3s that the Panis-Barthez Compétition structure, which he founded with Olivier Panis, will operate with Tech 1 Racing in Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in 2019.

The 1998 world football champion, who successfully passed into GT (2013 French champion with ASP), then into LM P2 proto, now has considerable experience in the category and the Blancpain championship, which will be very useful to the team which will debut in the SRO Motorsports series this season.

“It’s been almost four years since we set up the Panis-Barthez Compétition project, says Barthez. I know the team by heart, its DNA is still there and it is completely coherent and natural to attack this season together in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup after a blank year in LM P2 on my side.

I think our objectives will be similar to those of our debut in LMP2. Despite its experience, the team will discover a new championship. The goal will therefore be to have a lot of fun, but I have no doubt about it as it is an integral part of our DNA.

We will take the races one after the other in order to gain experience with this car. We will also be able to count on Olivier's presence to support us on all weekends on the calendar. »

The commitment to the Am Cup is consistent with what Simon Abadie, head of Tech 1, told us about his team's objectives for its debut in the Blancpain GT Series. The Silver Cup is also in the sights of the Toulouse team, which will have to complete the trio around Fabien Barthez in the coming weeks.
