Romain Sarazin: “I will arrive modestly. »

Winner of the GT Academy Europe 2015 and successor to his compatriots Jordan Tresson and Gaëtan Paletou, the economics and management student, originally from Meyzieu near Lyon, will begin, at the age of 22, his first season in motorsport in Blancpain Endurance Series. He will drive a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 for Team RJN Motorsport.

What was your program after your victory at the end of 2015 in the GT Academy Europe?

The transition was very quick. It wasn't easy, especially since I went straight to Silverstone after the final, and I didn't have much time to prepare. The first weeks, we had to realize. The experience was incredible, since in a month and a half (duration of the program followed by Romain Sarazin with the aim of obtaining the international license, Editor's note), I completed six weekends of racing. It was very intense, and I gained a lot of experience.

Has the recent restructuring within Nissan threatened your season?

It's true that there were significant changes after the departure of Darren Cox (former Nissan Global Motorsport director, dismissed at the end of 2015). For my part, I knew it wouldn't have an impact, because as a 2015 GT Academy winner, it was part of my price to race in 2016. My schedule could have been reduced. I am very satisfied to be able to evolve in Blancpain.

What are your expectations on the Endurance Cup scene?

This will be my first season, so I will arrive modestly. I have to learn. I lack experience compared to drivers more accustomed to Blancpain events, and who have several years of competition behind them. It's an opportunity to show what I'm worth, even if I have to go humbly. We will do the accounts at the end of the season.

Are there other events planned on your calendar?

Not for the moment.
