SMP Racing ahead on second test day at Spa

The GPX Racing team set the best time of the two days of official testing which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for the 24 Hours of Spa on October 24 and 25. At the wheel of the Porsche n°12, it was Mathieu Jaminet who was the fastest with a lap of 2'18"337 during the night session, Tuesday evening.

 Wednesday, the Ferrari n°72 SMP Racing was the fastest of the day with a time of 2'19"093 set in the morning. She then preceded the Mercedes HRT n°4 and the Lamborghini FFF Racing n°63. In the afternoon, the No. 88 AKKA-ASP Mercedes-AMG dominated the final session with a lap of 2'19 before the rain returned. The two GPX Racing Porsches followed her.

Of the five sessions on the program, each time a different brand found itself at the top of the ranking. Among the top teams, only Bentley really remained behind during these two days, with a twelfth fastest time for best result, in the second session. The English brand however has four cars.

In terms of weather Spa actually lived up to its reputation with changing weather conditions during these two days. On Wednesday morning, a wet track and cool temperatures awaited the competitors, but a dry track quickly emerged. On Wednesday afternoon, the return of rain prevented the drivers from chasing the best time during this final session, but it allowed them to fine-tune their settings for these conditions.
