SRO Motorsports cancels Monza event due to coronavirus

It comes as no surprise that SRO Motorsports has canceled the GT World Challenge Europe opening round of Monza (April 17-19) due to the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak and strict quarantine measures implemented in several regions of northern Italy, including Lombardy.

A cancellation that we also clearly felt was coming for several days, SRO Motorsports not having revealed a “plan B” for your calendar without valid reasons.

Stéphane Ratel's entity will therefore modify its calendars to transform the Barcelona Sprint Cup final (October 9-11) into the final round Endurance, when Imola (October 30 – November 1) becomes the Sprint Final.

This Monza meeting was also the opening of Formula Renault Eurocup, traditional championship supporting GT World Challenge Europe races.

This change also impacts the GT SportsClub series, which will therefore begin at Paul Ricard at the end of May. The question of the Nogaro Easter Cups, scheduled a week earlier to open the French Championship, is also starting to arise. FFSAGT, while the government has decided to ban gatherings of 1000 people in the territory.
