C3 – Shedden signs his first victory of the season, Audi hat-trick

And 13! Gordon Shedden (Audi) became the 13th different man to secure a winner's trophy in the 2018 World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) season. The Team WRT driver permanently kept first place on Sunday on the Wuhan street circuit (China).

The Scottish specialist in the BTCC (the British touring championship) took an Audi hat-trick. Indeed, Frédéric Vervisch finished second and began to threaten in the title race, while third place was reserved for the Belgian Denis Dupont, author of a third podium after Ningbo last week.

Several neutralizations marked the event. The first, to free several cars stopped on the track after a pile-up. Five drivers retired: Aurélien Comte (Peugeot ), Mat'o Homola (Peugeot), Rob Huff (Volkswagen), Timo Scheider (Honda), Zsolt David Szabo (Cupra). The Safety Car intervened another time to replace protective tires moved by Denis Dupont.

The only Frenchman ranked in the points is Nathanaël Berthon (Audi, 5th). In front of his home crowd, Ma Qing Hua (Honda) finished seventh. Among the pilots Hyundai, only Thed Björk scores a point thanks to his 10th place.

Aurelien Panis (Audi) finished 11th ahead Yann Ehrlacher (Honda), who did not collect any points this weekend. Jean Karl Vernay (Audi, 15th) received a pit stop penalty for being responsible for the pile-up at the start. Yvan Muller (Hyundai) has retired for mechanical reasons. John Filippi (Cupra) was a non-starter due to damage caused in Race 2.
