Guerrieri wins ahead of Ehrlacher in race 1 in Hungary

On the Hungaroring turnstile, the adage is that overtaking remains complicated. Starting from pole this Sunday morning for the first confrontation of the day in WTCR, Esteban Guerrieri (Honda Civic – Münnich Motorsport) took full advantage of his position to win race 1 of the meeting.

Starting well unlike Mikel Azcona (Cupra Leon – Zengo Motorsport), the Argentinian took the lead ahead of the two Lynk&Co 03 TCR – Cyan Racing by Yann Ehrlacher and Yvan Muller. The latter, however, quickly gave in to the attacks of Nestor Girolami (Honda Civic – Münnich Motorsport).

The order of the top 5, then completed by Attila Tassi (Honda Civic – Münnich Motorsport), will not move until the finish, Ehrlacher not finding an opening on the leader Guerrieri, when Tassi will hold on for 5th place and not without difficulty the return of Azcona, returned well after his failed flight.

Guerrieri therefore wins ahead of Ehrlacher, Girolami, Muller, Tassi, Azcona, Santiago Urrutia (Lynk&Co 03 – TCR – Cyan Performance), when Jean Karl Vernay place his Alfa Romeo Giulietta – Team Mulsanne in eighth position.

Nathanaël Berthon (Audi RS 3 TCR – Audi Sport Team Comtoyou) takes 12th place.

The second race of the weekend will start at 12:05 p.m.
