France is doing very well in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). We have told you about the remarkable season so far of Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co), leader of the general classification with two rounds remaining, but we must not forget the journey of Jean-Karl Vernay.
The Romeo Ferraris driver took pole position at Motorland Aragon (Spain) this Saturday, October 31 with theAlfa Romeo Giulietta. The 2017 TCR International Series champion took the opportunity to move up to third in the championship. Not a bad birthday present (he turns 33 this Saturday, October 31)!
Conversely, the two favorites for the title look gloomy. Yann Ehrlacher only managed the 18th fastest time, just ahead of his pursuer Esteban Guerrieri (Honda). In any case, Yvan Muller's nephew had to start last in Race 1 due to an engine change.
The uncle of the Alsatian family did much better, with the sixth time, behind Nathanaël Berthon (Audi). Aurélien Comte (Renault) is 14th. Pole for Race 1 was secured by Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) while the pole for Race 2 went to Hungarian Bence Boldizs (Cupra) due to the reversed grid.
