Vervisch and Catsburg on pole for Sunday races in Marrakech

After Honda on Saturday in Marrakech (Morocco), two other brands took pole positions for races 2 and 3 of the 2019 World Touring Car Cup (WTCR): Hyundai, thanks to Nicky Catsburg and Audi with Frédéric Vervisch.

The last named signs his first pole in the discipline for the Comtoyou team. He will have at his side on the grid the new Cyan Racing mount, the Lynk & Co 03 for Yvan Muller, which is ahead of Thed Björk's other Chinese car.

For his full-time return to WTCR by Oscaro, Tiago Monteiro (Honda) demonstrates that he has regained his full powers with the fourth fastest time. As for rookie Mikel Azcona (Cupra), he will start from fifth place.

The starting order of Race 2 is determined according to the order of the Top 10 of Q2 taken in reverse. This is how Nicky Catsburg (Hyundai) won pole despite a 10th overall time in Q2. The first row will be 100% South Korean because Gabriele Tarquini set the ninth time. Frenchman Jean-Karl Vernay (Audi), eighth, will start the event in third place.
