He thought about swapping the number 68 for 1 for the 2022 World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) season, but Yann Ehrlacher (Lynn & Co) ultimately remains faithful to the number of his native department, Alsace. However, the double title holder had every legitimacy to be the wearer of number 1 on the body of the Lynn & Co 03 TCR in the streets of Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) from May 6 to 8.

“You never know when the opportunity to take number 1 will present itself at this level of competition, but ultimately, I am attached to the 68 and I have won two years with this number, so I am keeping it”, explained Yvan Muller’s nephew. The Frenchman will begin the defense of his coronation in the streets of the Béarnaise city, which will serve as the first urban meeting for the WTCR since… Macau in November 2019!

“It’s always a different kind of circuit than traditional tracks, explains the 25-year-old young man. These are the kind of tracks I enjoy the most but you can't make a single mistake. If you commit 105% to qualifying, you have to be careful not to have an accident; sometimes 105% is too much, and you hit the wall. Your weekend ends there.

The danger of the Pau-Ville circuit will intoxicate the Alsatian. “When you attack a city circuit, you skim the walls and you record your time, the adrenaline and the sensations are incredible. »

Yann Erlacher is not unknown in Pau, because he had evolved in FFSAGT in 2018 in the family structure of M Racing on a Mercedes-AMG GT4. Almost ten years ago, he even drove an electric Andros Car! “It was one of my first car races in 2013, but it was more of an exhibition than a competition. I need to do a bit of simulator work and analyze videos to put the circuit back in place. »
