The series of 10 different winners in as many races contested this season has come to an end, whether or not it is the fault of Frédéric Vervisch. Holder of pole position due to his 10th time in Q2 on Saturday afternoon, the Comtoyou Team Audi driver mastered his subject this Sunday to cross the finish line alone.

Finally, this Race 1 near Pau-Arnos was relatively calm apart from the first lap and the first turn. Very well off to a good start, Frédéric Vervisch was able to maintain his position ahead of Thed Björk (Cyan Performance) and Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai Squadra Corsica). It was only in the middle and at the back of the peloton that things moved.

Tenth on the grid, Yvan Muller suffered a mechanical problem and a fall in the standings was inevitable. Meanwhile, Tiago Monteiro (ALL-INKL.DE Honda) ended his race in the tire wall entering turn three after contact with Yann Ehrlacher (Cyan Racing) forcing the safety car to enter on track for five laps.

The Safety Car returned to the pits, the race started again at the back of the peloton where Mikel Azcona (Zengo Motorsport Services), who started 19th, moved up to 13th. At the front, calm was there as Frédéric Vervisch, without suffering against Thed Björk and Gabriel Tarquni, headed towards his second victory of the season, thus putting an end to the famous series of 10 different winners in as many meetings -YOU. The first Frenchman overall, Jean-Karl Vernay, finished 6th, Yann Ehrlacher crossed the line in 8th position and Nathanaël Berthon in 11th. Yvan Muller returned to the track just to check that the repairs made to his car were working correctly. He will be at the start of Race 2 at 12:15 p.m. this Sunday.
