After three years of presence in the Sprint Cup Series, the rear wing which will still be used this weekend in Bristol, will then give way to a new spoiler, a sort of return to the roots of the American discipline.

A new spoiler in Nascar

The idea had already been mentioned this winter but things remained as they were at the start of the season. The leaders of the NASCAR have finally decided to introduce the new spoiler during the year. It will be tested next week, Tuesday and Wednesday, at the Charlotte circuit in North Carolina. Its first appearance in a race will be made immediately, at Martinsville, on a modest circuit where aerodynamics are less important than on superspeedways.

This spoiler, which allows better aerodynamic downforce, has already been tested at Talladega this Tuesday but will be released by the teams racing at Martinsville next week. For short and intermediate circuits, the spoiler must be inclined at 70° and have a height of four inches, or ten centimeters. For superspeedways (Talladega, Daytona?), the technical standards have not yet been defined.
