WTCC-C2: Red flag in China, Björk new leader

The main race of the weekend in Ningbo (China) could not be held due to torrential rain. After several laps completed behind the safety car, the race management decided to interrupt the event, after several complaints from drivers on the radio. “We can’t run in these conditions”, hammered for example Nicky Catsburg (Volvo, qualified 8th), who complained of stagnant water on the asphalt.

After half an hour of discussions, it was decided that half of the points would still be allocated in the ranking, following the order of Saturday's qualifications. Nestor Girolami (Volvo), thanks to his pole, is declared the winner, ahead of Norbert Michelisz (Honda) and Thed Björk (Volvo). Yann Erlacher (RC Motorsport) ranks 10th, just behind John Filippi (Sébastien Loeb Racing).

Without having had the opportunity to let go of the horses, Thed Bjork steals the lead in the general classification from Tiago Monteiro (Honda, withdrawal) by half a point. Norbert Michelisz is now only two points behind his teammate. The next round of the WTCC will be held at the Motegi circuit (Japan), on October 28 and 29.
