WTCC – François Ribeiro: Motegi will offer competitive races

After four visits to the legendary route of Suzuka, WTCC will change location for its Japanese sleeve. It will be the Motegi circuit, 4,8 km long and located in Tochigi Prefecture, 145 km north of the capital Tokyo, will host the protagonists of the World Touring Car Championship this year.

“We believe the WTCC has found its home in Japan in Motegi. The slopes which welcome the MotoGP usually offer high quality touring races and we are sure that Motegi will offer competitive races with significant overtaking opportunities,
says François Ribeiro. The WTCC was a success at Suzuka with attendance growing every year. Given the popularity and level of expertise of Japanese motorsport fans, changing destination is a decision that we have carefully considered in collaboration with our partner Mobilityland (which also manages the Motegi route). September should hopefully offer favorable weather conditions in terms of climate and we will be working very hard with all our Japanese WTCC partners to promote the sport in the Tokyo region and attract crowds. »

The Motegi complex notably offered the Japanese public racesIndyCar until 2011, and is one of the traditional meetings Super GT and Super Formula Japanese.
