WTCR – Peugeot unveils the 308TCR

While Peugeot Sport will take to the South American tracks to defend his Dakar title, the Lion has lifted the veil on the 308TCR this Wednesday morning.

After developing the RCZ, 208 and 308 Racing Cup, Peugeot is launching an ultimate version of its 308 for circuit events open to TCR regulations, including the new WTCR which will replace the WTCC from this season.

The 4 cm1600 3-cylinder turbo reaches 350 hp here, compared to 308 for the Racing Cup version, thanks in particular to a reworked intake, exhaust and supercharging. Peugeot estimates the mileage potential of this engine at 5 km (double what will be covered in WTCR). The unit is mated to a specifically developed six-speed gearbox.

In terms of chassis, Peugeot announces a car that is very responsive on its front axle, a character obtained in particular with a widening of the tracks, specific suspension designs, adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars and suspension elements entirely on ball joints.

The aerodynamics are not left out, with an evolution compared to the Racing Cup version. The front shield thus integrates revised air inlets while the rear shield and extractor contribute to the maximum generation of downforce on the rear part of the car.

“If the 308 Racing Cup was already eligible for the TCR, the very rapid development of championships based on the regulations pushed us to go further in the search for performance in order to support the ambition of our customers up to the best level international, this being, from 2018, represented by the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), indicates Bruno Famin, director of Peugeot Sport.

If the 308 Racing Cup remains in the Lion catalog, the 308TCR is already offered for sale, at a price of €109 excluding VAT. The estimated kilometric cost is €000 excluding VAT (excluding consumables). The first deliveries are expected for the month of April.

The car will also be exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland from March 8 to 18.
