En marge de la finale des Porsche Carrera Cup Asia et Porsche Sports Cup China, Yifei Ye a été annoncé comme le pilote Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific pour l’année 2022 succédant au Belge Alessio Picariello.

« Being able to join forces with a manufacturer and a racing brand like Porsche is a very important step in my career., recognizes Yifei Ye at the time of the announcement. Motorsport is part of Porsche's DNA, which is recognized for its driver development program. I plan to use it to be in the best possible shape."

Expected in GT from 2022, Yifei Ye will receive financial support from Porsche but also physical and media training with former factory driver Sascha Maassen. He will be the first driver to take on the role of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific driver whose aim is to “ develop the talent of drivers from the Asia-Pacific region outside of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia."

« Next season will be my first in GT, so I have to adapt to a lot of things but with Porsche following the transition will be much easier, estimates the Chinese who is now targeting the LMDh program for the return of the Stuttgart firm to Le Mans in 2023.  I made my debut in Endurance this season and after my titles in ALMS and ELMS my main goal is to arrive in LMDh with Porsche in 2023 and become the first Chinese to win an FIA world championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans »

Yifei Ye's schedule for the 2022 season will be revealed in due course. Until now a Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific driver, Alessio Picariello will continue to collaborate with the German manufacturer next year and will have new opportunities.
