25% of spectators at the Indianapolis 500

The Indianapolis 500 will take place, and in public. According to the organizers, around 25% of the usual spectators should be present to follow the 23 on Sunday August 104e edition of the event counting towards the championship Indycar series, in the United States.

This figure results from the strategy adopted by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to ensure the health safety of the event. The organizers have started on a basis of 50% of the usual authorized capacity. Then they limited access to the infield, to the boxes, refunded certain tickets and encouraged those over 65 to stay at home.

On site, barrier gestures will be the same as in France. Spectators' temperatures will be taken upon entry. They will have to wear a mask, respect distancing, avoid moving around and access to limited catering areas. “ We want to demonstrate that even in the current circumstances, people can come together with carefully planned procedures, so that we don't have to start shutting down our country again." commented Mark Miles, president of Penske Entertainment, the company organizing the event.

At the beginning of July, the Indycar had already come to Indianapolis for the return to competition, this time behind closed doors. Last weekend, July 17 and 18, the Indycar round in Iowa, on the other hand, allowed spectators to return to the circuits, already with strict health measures.
