Between Alexander Sims and BMW i Andretti Motorsport it's over. Through a press release, the German team indicated that the collaboration with the British driver would not be extended next season.
« We had two great seasons together. “, said Jens Marquardt, boss of BMW Motorsport. “ Alexander has matured from a beginner to a race winner (…) It was a pleasure to see him during his big weekend in Diriyah (two poles and one victory). We regret not being able to race together next season. We wish him all the best for his next adventure in Formula-E and look forward to getting back on track ».
And yes because there will be new adventures. Released by BMW, Alexander Sims will be there next season with Mahindra. The Indian team has formalized its arrival for the 2020/2021 campaign which also announced the departure of Jérôme d'Ambrosio. The identity of the second pilot should soon be known.
Maximilian Günther, now a former teammate of Alexander Sims, will continue his adventure with BMW i Andretti Motorsport next season. “ I am delighted to be able to count on such a focused, professional and fast driver next season despite his young age », smiles Jens Marquardt. The game of musical chairs has begun.
