Anthoine Hubert has died

The tragic information was announced by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile on Saturday August 31 shortly before 19 p.m. The Frenchman Anthoine Hubert, engaged with the Arden team in Formula 2 in 2019, died in an accident at the opening of the Long Race held at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium).

Anthoine Hubert was involved in an accident at the top of Raidillon. The 22-year-old pilot died from his injuries. Juan Manuel Correa, also involved in the accident, was transported to Liège University Hospital. His state of health is stable and more information will be provided by the FIA ​​soon. Giuliano Alesi underwent a medical check-up, no injuries were detected. An investigation into the accident has been opened by the FIA.

The Frenchman from Lyon was part of the new wave of French talents. French Formula 4 champion in 2013, he then distinguished himself in Formula Renault 2.0, then in Formula 3 European, before revealing itself in the eyes of the team bosses of Formula 1 by winning the GP3 Series title in 2018.  

For his discovery season in Formula 2, he was in eighth place in the championship, with top-notch performances for a rookie. His victories at Monaco and Paul-Ricard will have been the last feats of arms in a career cut short far too soon.
