Artem Markelov returns to F2 for a freelance stint with MP in Monaco

It didn’t take long for Artem Markelov to set foot again in the paddock of the Formula 2. After five seasons in the official antechamber of the F1 With nine victories, the 24-year-old Russian has headed to Japan and Super Formula this season.

However, he will be back in F2 next week at the Monaco meeting (May 23-25) replacing Jordan King at the Dutch team MP Motorsport.

« I am very happy to race for MP in Monaco, said Markelov, runner-up in the discipline in 2017 and former development driver Renault. There is no better place for this timely return. I can’t wait to reunite with my old friends and naturally wish Jordan the best for the Indy 500 ».

« Artem is the best candidate to replace Jordan, added Sander Dorsman, team principal of MP Motorsport who also fields the improbable Mahaveer Raghunathan. I hope it will help us to produce a pair of convincing results ».

Markelov has already won twice in Monaco in Formula 2. It was in 2016 and 2018.
