After the tragic disappearance of Anthoine Hubert, who died in an accident at Spa-Francorchamps, the Arden team has indicated that it will field Russian Artem Markelov in the last two rounds of the season in Sochi this weekend and Abu Dhabi at the end november.
The formation had only fielded one car for Tatiana Calderon during the Italian event in Monza. Artem Markelov has plenty of experience in the category, having finished second in the championship in 2017 behind Charles Leclerc.
The Russian has claimed nine victories and eight podiums since his debut in GP2 / FIA F2 in 2014. “First of all, I want to send my thoughts to Anthoine’s family, comments Markelov.
He was not only a good pilot, he was a great man, happy all the time and always smiling. He showed everyone his talent.
Thank you to the team for trusting me in this situation and I will do my best for them. We will move forward together for Anthoine's memory. »
Artem Markelov will drive with the No. 22, the No. 19 having been retired in tribute to Anthoine Hubert.
