Audi to supply Virgin Racing

Long associated with DS, the structure Virgin racing will turn towardsAudi Sport for the provision of car based on the Gen 2 chassis of the Formula E, starting with the fifth season 2018-2019.

Virgin Racing will be able to benefit from the e-tron FE05 developed by Neuburg and powered by the Audi Schaeffler MGU03 powertrain. Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler had a successful 2017-2018 season by winning the Teams title last July during the New York final.

The relationship between the two entities will not be limited to simple customer supply. Exchanges of information will be established between the two teams, which could allow Audi Sport to benefit in particular from new technical data other than those of its own single-seaters (a first) in order to continue the development of its latest addition, which will its debut on December 15 in the race in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

"From the outset, the team always intended to partner with a manufacturer, as Virgin's core business areas do not involve automobile production, recalls Sylvain Filippi, general manager of Virgin Racing.

With Audi Sport and the drive of our majority owner, Envision, we believe this is a perfect partnership to continue fighting at the front of the grid. »

However, no confirmation has been received regarding the duo of drivers who will compete in Virgin Racing single-seaters. We will have to wait for the official presentation of the team, scheduled for October 5.
