DAMS cares about Ayumu Iwasa. After a successful first year, the two parties have agreed to extend their collaboration for the 2023 season. I am very satisfied with my first season in Formula 2, points to the pilot covered by Red Bull. I learned a lot and we were able to improve with each race. It’s great to continue with DAMS for a new campaign. I feel at home on the team and we work well together. Everyone is moving on the same wavelength and this has allowed us to achieve convincing results.

Approaching a new season in a familiar environment will be particularly useful, as will my knowledge of the circuits that I discovered in 2022. The objective will be to get involved in the fight for the title in 2023. We know that we have the means to do so and potential. But we don't want to project too much into the future. We prefer to focus on preparations to be ready to start the year off right. A big thank you to DAMS for their support and the trust the team places in me. I can't wait for the 2023 season to start! »

Ayumu Iwasa, the title in his sights

For his first F2 season, Ayumu Iwasa showed his ability to bounce back from mistakes like in Bahrain from the first round but also to get up to speed. Gradually in the game, the Japanese scored a first victory by winning the Main Race at Le Castellet before doubling the lead in Abu Dhabi for the last race of the campaign. To this already good record for a rookie year, we must add four other podiums but also two pole positions (France and Abu Dhabi) ending the 2022 financial year in 5e place only 8 lengths from the podium.

« Ayumu's performances in 2022, starting with his victories at Circuit Paul Ricard and Yas Marina, have impressed everyone in the team, recognizes the owner of DAMS Charles Pic. We definitely wanted to keep it for 2023. It's great to be able to extend our association with Red Bull and Honda, and to see that they trust our methods. Together we will do our best to shine. Ayumu showed that he had the potential to play for the title. He was particularly successful during the second half of the season. We hope to be able to use this experience to launch the 2023 season with good momentum. With Ayumu and Arthur, we have a very solid duo of drivers, and we hope that the competition between them will help them progress throughout the year.."

After a successful learning season, Ayumu Iwasa will return to the charge in 2023. This time, we will have to consider the member of the Red Bull Junior Team as a real contender for the title since he has already demonstrated his ability to be fast in qualifying and in the race, as evidenced by his rookie results.
