Baguette readjusts its ambitions

Bertrand Baguette, for his first race in IndyCar Series, was a little optimistic hoping for a top 10. It is true that the Belgian, champion of Formula Renault 3.5 Series, must get used to a new championship which has its specificities. For the Conquest Racing driver, the first particularity of IndyCar is knowing how to intelligently manage your pit stop strategy, being fast at each stop.

« With the team, we will work on our pit stops, affirms Bertrand Baguette, aware that races can be lost or won in this area. Static, with the car hoisted on the jack, the mechanics will practice removing the wheels and putting others back on. And from tomorrow, I will take advantage of free practice to enter the pitlane and simulate a refueling. This is something we need to improve on and we are going to work on it. »

Twentieth in Birmingham, Baguette arrives in Long Beach in the hope of doing better. If he was aiming for a top 10 last weekend, he is readjusting his ambitions according to his experience in the discipline.

« I hope to progress in the hierarchy this Sunday, exclaims the pilot from across Quiévrain. A top 15 would delight me. To familiarize myself with the track on the streets of Long Beach, I watched the recording of last year?s race at length. I also trained on a video game and participated in a long debriefing with my engineer. I love the context in which we will evolve. I also noticed that turn 3 is superb; it must be a real pleasure to push your car at the limit. At the end of the straight, there is a left turn to take in 3rd gear in which you can try to overtake. In short, I'm delighted to be there. »
