Briscoe struggles against Dixon

Ryan Briscoe gave the spectators at the Chicagoland oval what only American races can offer. While the race features 200 laps, victory was only a hair's breadth away, with Ryan Briscoe ahead of Scott Dixon by less than eight thousandths of a second. The two men were the main leaders of the race, each leading for a third of the event. In the lead during the final laps, Scott Dixon thought he would secure his fifth victory of the season. This was without counting on the self-sacrifice of Ryan Briscoe, attached to the New Zealander's car, before managing to overtake him in the last corner of the race, to beat him to the post.

Regular this season, Ryan Briscoe records his third success, as well as his fourth consecutive podium. The Australian, leader of the general classification, is still far from final victory since, with two races on the program, a lot can still happen. Despite everything, with 25 and 33 points ahead of Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon respectively, Ryan Briscoe is in the best position to win the final prize. Helio Castroneves has lost all hope of fighting for the title: twentieth yesterday, the Brazilian finds himself 67 units behind the leader.
