C1: Markelov opportunist and winner in Monaco

Part 3e, Artem Markelov (Russian Time) wisely stayed behind Alex Albon (DAMS) and Nyck de Vries (Prema Racing) who took the first places in the race. However, during the second safety car, a disagreement between the two leading drivers saw them collide at the entrance to the pit lane, causing them to retire later in the race.

Boosted by his change of chassis, Artem Markelov continued to widen the gap on the drivers with a shifted strategy to win a second time in the streets of Monaco after a first victory in 2016. The Russian won ahead of Sean Gelael (Prema Racing), big winner of the reverse strategy and which equals his best career performance. Roberto Merhi (MP Motorsport) completes the podium and takes his first top 3 in F2.

Louis Delétraz (Charouz Racing) takes his first points this season with a 4e place and ahead of Arjun Maini (Trident). Lando Norris (Carlin) did well finishing 6e despite a failed qualification and a drive through following contact with Ralph Boschung (MP Motorsport). Jack Aitken (ART GP) finishes 7e ahead of Antonio Fuoco (Charouz Racing) who took pole for the second race. Nicholas latifi (DAMS) and Nirei Fukuzumi (Arden) complete the top 10 in a difficult race for the championship leaders since George Russell (ART GP) also retired at the start of the race.
