Callum Ilott takes his first pole at Monza

On a tricky track with rain as a guest of the session, Callum Ilott (Sauber Junior Team by Charouz) took his first FIA pole F2.

Quickly placed at the top of the ranking with a first reference in 1'33″887, the Briton was never caught, only approached by Guanyu-Zhou (Uni-Virtuosi) and Nikita mazepin (ART Grand Prix) by a tenth.

The championship leader Nyck de Vries (ART Grand Prix) limits the damage by taking fourth place, while its closest rival Nicholas latifi (DAMS) only ranks 7th. Giuliano Alesi (Trident) will start from 12th position tomorrow for this main race.

The session was neutralized under red flag twice after the exit of Nobuharu Matsushita (Carlin) at the Variante Della Roggia, before it was Tatiana Calderon (Arden), who was surprised at the Variante Ascari, causing a second red flag just after the session restarted.

The Colombian did not manage to set a time within 107% of the pole, with the only reference being a lap in 1'46"667, the 107% being set in 1'40"459.

The first race of the weekend in FIA F2 will be scheduled for tomorrow at 16:45 p.m.
