After the terrible accident and the serious injuries suffered by Robert Wicken during the Pocono (Pennsylvania) event earlier in the month, the team Schmidt Peterson Motorsports had not initiated the car No. 6 usually reserved for the Canadian driver during the Gateway round last weekend.
SPM – Honda will finally go back to two single-seaters this weekend in Portland (Oregon), as well as for the final of Sonoma in California (two races on a road circuit), with the reinforcement of the Colombian Carlos Munoz.
Former starter at Andretti Autosport between 2014 and 2016, the 26-year-old driver defended the colors of A.J. Foyt Enterprises in 2017, before failing to find a year-round seat this season. Only his participation in the Indianapolis 500 with Andretti Autosport, with a convincing 7th place finish, is to his credit in 2018.
Robert Wickens, for his part, continues his convalescence after having undergone major surgical operations on his spine.
