Charles Leclerc does not feel any additional pressure

After conclusive tests in Hungary where he achieved 3e best cumulative time ahead of Kimi Räikkönen on the Ferrari, Charles Leclerc sees its future in F1 to take shape even if he assures that he is not thinking about it at the moment and is concentrating on the championship of Formula 2 of which he is well ahead.

« The results of the first part of the season were much better than expected, and we are really delighted, explains the Monegasque. Seeing my name in the press more often and being linked to F1 by Ferrari is good, but it doesn't put any extra pressure on me. I concentrate on what I have to do with Prema, and I let to others [his manager Nicolas Todt and Ferrari] the care of thinking of my future."

Member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since the beginning of 2016, his links with the Scuderia allowed him to obtain 4 free practice sessions with Haas F1 Team last season as well as two mid-season tests with Ferrari to prepare for its entry into the top category.

« Being part of an organization like the Ferrari Driver Academy is very important, because F1 remains a closed world. So, being able to progress in the best possible environment is essential in the climb to F1.

« In addition, they offer me great support in terms of physical and mental preparation. It also means I have regular access to the incredible Ferrari simulator, which for a young person is an ideal way to improve their technique and it also provides the best preparation for each race. »

The renewal of the agreement between Sauber and Ferrari could allow Leclerc to enter Formula 1 from the 2018 season as a starter while setting the objective of winning the F2 championship.
