Charles Pic: “Great job”

Charles Pic, this is your first victory in GP2. What do you feel ?
It was a great race! I started from fourth position. My start wasn't great, but I chose the right lane to attack the first corner, which allowed me to gain places. At the beginning, I pushed to take Adrian (Zaugg) back but he closed the door on me so it wasn't easy. After four laps, I was able to overtake him. Then I concentrated on attacking as much as possible to widen the gap on Ricci. I have to thank the team: they did a fantastic job, my car was perfect today. It was the first time I drove on this Bahrain circuit. It was not easy during qualifying because I was still learning how to ride on this track. We worked a lot before the first race. It was a little better, but we worked again before the second race and the car improved further. So, great job!

Last time, in Abu Dhabi, you took pole but had no luck in the race. Here, you didn't have good qualifications but you are winning. How do you explain it?
I think I was quick earlier in Abu Dhabi because I already knew the track from the previous round. It was easier for me. Here, during free practice and qualifying, I had to learn the track. In Abu Dhabi, I made mistakes at the start, I made a bad pit stop and, on top of that, I got rear-ended. Here, I worked a lot not to make mistakes and I have already learned a lot from this new discipline.

This is only your third GP2 weekend and you have already achieved a pole position and bagged a victory. This should give you confidence before the start of the European GP2 Series season?

Of course, but I think I still have a lot to learn. I think GP2 Asia is very good training for the main championship.
