The qualifying session for the ePrix Formula E in Marrakech (Morocco) this Saturday, February 29, demonstrated the competitiveness of the electrical platform. The first three competitors are separated by only 95 thousandths!
Antonio Félix Da Costa (DS Techeetah) did the best. The Portuguese took pole ahead of Santiago de Chile ePrix winner Maximilian Günther (BMW i Andretti) and Mexico ePrix pole sitter André Lotterer (Porsche).
Seven different manufacturers occupy the top 7. Nyck de Vries (Mercedes), Edoardo Mortara (Venturi) and Sébastien Buemi (Nissan e.dams) complete the Super Pole ahead of Jérôme D’Ambrosio (Mahindra).
If Andre Lotterer and Edoardo Mortara are relatively happy, their respective teammates are brooding. With equal equipment, Neel Jani and Felipe Massa remained stuck in the depths of the ranking (21st and 22nd).
Sick Friday, Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah) is not in great form. The outgoing double champion will start from the middle of the grid (11th)
This session was a disaster for Mitch Evans (Jaguar). The championship leader did not record a single lap due to poor timing from his team. Indeed, the New Zealander crossed the finish line a second too late, the checkered flag was presented to him when he wanted to start his flying lap.
Mitch Evans will therefore start from the last position on the grid (24th). The 2020 Marrakech ePrix will begin at 15 p.m. French time.
