Da Costa takes pole by one breath in Monaco

Fastest man behind the Jaguar drivers during the final free practice session this Saturday morning, António Félix da Costa (DS Techeetah) managed to reverse the trend in qualifying.

Easily removed from his qualifying group, the reigning champion pulled out all the stops during the Super Pole. Third to go, the Portuguese immediately pushed aside his teammate Jean-Éric Vergne with a time of 1'31"317.

Installed in the lead, António Félix da Costa then got scared with the passes of Mitch Evans (Jaguar) and Robin Frijns (Virgin) but neither of them was able to beat the Lusitanian's mark in the end. They were respectively ahead of 39 and 12 thousandths.

Once 2nd, Oliver Rowland (Nissan e-Dams) saw his time canceled by the stewards for taking to the track while the light was still red. He will start 6th just behind Maximilian Günther (BMW).

Nick Cassidy (Virgin), Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), Alex Lynn (Mahindra) et Norman Nato (Venturi) complètent eux le Top 10 de ces qualifications.

Qualifications that Mercedes absolutely wants to forget. Starting in the first groups, Stoffel Vadoorne and Nick de Vries will have suffered in the streets of Monaco. If the first city can envisage a rise from 15th position, the second is only 23rd and penultimate on the grid. Enough to glimpse an e-Prix at the back of the peloton.
