Burns for Tony Kanaan

Unhappy since the start of the season with numerous spectacular accidents, including a crash at the Indy 500 which left him with bruises on his ribs and legs, Tony Kanaan was a victim of ethanol during the Edmonton race.

La car No. 11 stopped at its pit stop for refueling on the 34th lap. Ethanol leaked onto the hood of the car when Tony Kanaan left his spot. A second later, the Brazilian tried to get out of the car before receiving help from the mechanics around. According to an initial diagnosis, the 2004 champion suffers from burns to his face and thumbs.

“We will know more in the coming days,” comments Tony Kanaan. “I could be uglier than I am today!” I am relieved that it is not more serious because I was very scared. I have to thank the other teams. The people from Penske and Panther immediately came to my aid. We fight every weekend for victory but we are also a big family. When someone needs help, they get it. »

Tony Kanaan will be examined by championship doctors this week.
