Dixon returns to victory

After a difficult start to the season, Scott Dixon is relaunching with the return of oval racing. At Kansas Speedway, the 2008 Champion d?Indycar did not leave much hope to the competition, dominating most of the 200 laps. His victory began to take shape when he dislodged pole-sitter Graham Rahal from first position on the 8th lap. “We fought to obtain this first victory,” says the winner of the day, now blessed with 17 successes in Indycar including 11 on ovals. “This championship is very close and this victory revives my title hopes. We are now in good shape before arriving at Indy. »

Penalized in trials, Helio Castroneves made a superb comeback and took second position while Tony Kanaan took the last place on the podium. Kanaan thus dislodges Dario Franchitti from his place as leader in the general classification. The Scotsman, back in the top 6 after his penalty in qualifying, retired following an accident caused by a misunderstanding between Franchitti and Rahal. No points therefore for Dario Franchitti, who thus falls in the general classification from first place to third position, behind Tony Kanaan and Ryan Briscoe.

Tony Kanaan has only one point ahead of Ryan Briscoe and is expecting a season that will be more competitive than ever. “Regularity is the key” analyzes the new Indycar leader. “We now have to work even harder to win races. Five times in the top 5 in five races, we are where we wanted to be. It's too early in the season to consider anything, it's just good to be the leader before going to Indy.

The Indianapolis 500 now haunts everyone's minds. See you on May 24 for this legendary race.
